Dr. Daniella Ishimaru is a drug developer with more than 20 years of professional experience in Nucleic Acid and Protein Biology and > 8 years in RNA-based drug discovery. Dr. Ishimaru’s knowledge extends in the following modalities:

  • mRNA therapeutics and vaccines
  • microRNA biology and regulation
  • RNA regulation/stability
  • Epigenetic regulation
  • RNA/DNA-binding proteins
  • Protein folding

 

Daniella has led efforts in:

  • RNA production/manufacturing
  • RNA quality control and purification
  • Delivery systems (LNP, polyplexes, inhalation)
  • Assay development and biodistribution
  • Safety and immunogenicity
  • IND-enabling studies (GLP)

 

EDUCATION

Dr. Ishimaru completed her postdoctoral training in Epigenetic Regulation at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences as a PEW Latin America Fellow. Daniella investigated RNA Biology and Regulation as a postdoctoral fellow and subsequently as Research Assistant Professor at MUSC, Charleston, SC. She earned her PhD from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Biochemistry, Brazil.
